For the want of two shillings - a life was lost
Article taken from Midland Ancestor, September 2011, about Louisa Jarvis, a silk worker in Campden in the mid 19th century. She had a relationship with a William Bennett, also of Campden, and they had two children together before the relationship broke up. In 1853 William was accused of her murder, was found guilty and imprisoned in Gloucester Gaol.
