Early Dover's Meetings

The early Dovers Meetings, now called Dovers Games, featured a variety of activities and entertainment during Whitsun Week, culminating in the ‘Wake’.  It appears that ‘Scuttlebrook’ is a later addition to the name of the fair.

Backsword fighting, horse racing and ‘Jingling’ were very popular.
