Ebrington Banner
26 photographic prints [some duplicates or near] of the Ebrington Banner taken when it was being removed from the Ebrington Church in August 1997. Conservation work on the banner was carried out by Ann French April – June 1998 and it was then displayed at the Cotswold Heritage Centre in Spring 2000. A special display case was made for it to hang in the Court Room in the Old Police Station in Feb. 2003.
Banner is double sided:
Side 1) Good Samaritan scene. Wording: Banner of the Ebrington Friendly Society. Instituted Sept. 29th 1856. Go thou and do likewise. Let brotherly love continue. Image of holding/shaking hands encircled by foliage wreath.
Side 2) Scene with 5 people, kneeling. Wording: Let brotherly love continue . Unity is strength. Ebrington Friendly Society. Instituted Sept. 29th 1856. Image of holding/shaking hands encircled by foliage wreath.
Also: 7 photographic prints of four smaller banners, now in the possession of Margaret Fisher, two depicting emblems of the Fortescue & Harrowby families.
